HSES Consultants is a specialist health, safety, and emergency management consultancy headquartered in Perth, Western Australia. We partner with operators across mining, oil & gas, power generation, ports & marine, construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and the public sector to deliver compliant, defensible, and operationally practical safety outcomes.
Our directors, Jeremy and Kelly Gutteridge, bring more than 60 years of combined experience across Australia, Asia and Europe. Their backgrounds span policing, industrial fire and rescue, paramedic practice, midwifery, occupational nursing, auditing, training and senior WHS management — a depth of frontline operational experience that is exceptionally rare among Australian safety consultancies.
Most WA safety consultancies are staffed by professionals who have moved into safety from a single industry pathway — typically construction, mining or HSE management. HSES is different: our consultants have walked the ground in three of the most demanding operational disciplines in the country.
Jeremy spent 10 years in policing before transitioning into industrial emergency response, paramedic practice, investigation and safety. Kelly built her clinical foundation as a registered nurse and midwife before moving into occupational health, health promotion and WHS leadership. That pedigree gives us a unique ability to investigate, advise and respond — across the full lifecycle of an incident or program.
Jeremy is a highly experienced investigator, consultant and trainer with 30 years of experience in Police, Fraud Investigation, Industrial Fire & Rescue, Paramedic Practice, Safety and ICAM investigation in Australia, Asia and Europe. His extensive academic qualifications complement his practical experience, ensuring every engagement is grounded in robust knowledge and ground-truth.
After a decade of policing and investigation in the public sector, Jeremy transitioned to private sector safety, emergency management, investigation and security across mining, oil & gas, power generation, port, rail, construction, and manufacturing. This diverse background lets him calibrate advice to the unique cadence of each operating environment.
Kelly brings 30+ years of cross-disciplinary experience in Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Wellbeing, training and consultancy. Her qualifications span Nursing, Midwifery, Health Promotion, WHS, Investigations, Training, Auditing and Health Education.
Across Australia, Asia and Europe she has worked in pharmaceuticals, mining, oil & gas and construction in roles including managerial and consultancy lead. Her passion for workplace health analytics and proactive health and safety makes her a valuable asset on any safety and health initiative.
