Harness and Lanyard Inspection and Certification
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 outlines requirements of inspection of equipment, including all lifting equipment and lifting accessories. Any work equipment utilised in lifting activities at a place of work must comply with relevant legislation relating to Safety and Health.
It is a legal requirement that all Working at Height equipment, including Fall Protection such as harnesses, lanyards and connectors, be inspected by a competent assessor every 6 months, and a certificate of compliance issued following inspection. Working at Height equipment may be required to be inspected more frequently if in heavy use, or if utilised in high risk environments, such as where chemicals or heat are present.
